The program is designed to provide additional or partial scholarships to help military applicants, said Jean Anderson, scholarship committee chairwoman. The money is funded by K-State for students to attend the university. The applicants compete and receive the funds based on the same criteria as the Fort Riley Combined Scholarship Board scholarships, but they are selected by a committee from the university, Anderson said.
