Welcome to the Kansas State University Department of Geology! We have been preparing students for careers and advanced studies in the profession for over 60 years, and their successes have made us proud. Our alumni - and alumnae - are all over the world, and show their appreciation for their time here in many important ways.
The Department is located in Thompson Hall and consists of 13 faculty members, one support staff member, and about 60 undergraduate majors, and 16 graduate students. We offer B.A., B.S., and M.S. degrees and make the Kansas State University experience more than a program of study, with careful and caring advisement, mentoring, activities, and a common interest in career advancement in the geosciences.
We maintain active research programs in a wide range of geoscience subdisciplines including chemical hydrogeology, petroleum geology, exploration seismic and near surface geophysics, Late Pleistocene geochronology, igneous petrology, volcanology, climate change, tidal sedimentation processes, luminescence dating, and biomineralization.
